Privacy

Last updated 2 November 2026

This policy explains how Bazaliza Lawyers, trading as Bazaliza Mediation, handles personal information. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

Through this website we collect only what you give us: your name, email address, telephone number, the nature of your dispute and anything else you choose to include in an enquiry.

In the course of a mediation we collect considerably more — financial records, details about children, and information about the other party. That information is collected under our engagement with you, not through this website, and is governed by the confidentiality provisions described in our Terms.

Why we collect it

To respond to your enquiry, to assess whether mediation is appropriate for your matter, to conduct the mediation itself, and to meet our professional and statutory obligations as a law practice.

We do not use your details for marketing and we do not sell or disclose them to third parties for their own purposes.

Mediation confidentiality

Communications made in family dispute resolution are confidential under s10H of the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) and, with narrow exceptions, inadmissible in court under s10J.

The exceptions are not ours to waive. Where a disclosure indicates that a child has been abused or is at risk of abuse, or where there is a serious and imminent threat to a person’s life or health, disclosure may be required or permitted by law. This is explained again at intake before any substantive discussion takes place.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no tracking cookies and runs no third-party advertising scripts. Your colour-mode preference is stored in your browser’s local storage and never leaves your device.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint or track individual visitors across sites.

Where it is stored

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Enquiry emails are delivered through a transactional email provider. Matter files are held in the firm’s practice management system.

Some of these providers store data outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure any overseas recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Access, correction and complaints

You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Write to mediation@bazaliza.com.au or to the postal address on our Contact page.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information you may complain to us in the first instance, and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
